Comm 299 – Greatest Lesson I’ve Ever Learned

One of the greatest lessons that I have learned has been from my coach of my swim team when I swam with the Olympian Swim Club. I had always enjoyed swimming, so when I started high school, I sought a new past time and decided to join my city’s swim club. At first it seemed like any other sport, but when I began the routine of gruelling practices and training, I realized that swim club was not a slack sport. With my natural talent at swimming, my coach pushed to forcus my talents and make me the most efficient and agile swimmer I could be. He would constantly pressure me during practices, and when I thought I would surely pass out from exhaustion, he would send me out to beat my last fastest length time. But, from this, I learned that mentally, I could always push myself farther and harder than my body had expected, and even when my body would crave a break to reguvinate, I could push on and suceed in my practices.

In this way, I learned how to maintain determination, drive, and percerverance even when the task seemed impossible. This has molded me in the way I act even now, and challenges I find in atheltics, academics, and anything in life, I now know that I can do whatever it takes to reach my goal.
